Weltevree has collaborated with designer Joep van Lieshout, to create ‘The Flying Dishman’, an outdoor daybed that’s partly constituted of recycled waste containers.
The title of the Flying Dishman refers again to the fantasy of the Flying Dutchman: a ghost ship pressured to sail the seven seas eternally.
Joep explains how this fantasy of the eternally touring ship touches upon vital environmental issues: “The persevering with journey underlines the continuous circle of recycling: the current future of the ocean and the plastic soup’s contradiction between sustainability and ecological disaster.”
By the usage of recycled plastics, the daybed can resist daily local weather circumstances and requires subsequent to no maintenance.
The spherical design of the daybed permits for a 360 diploma view, and may accommodate 2 to a few people laying down, or 6 people sitting up, with added cushions for comfort.
